William Dooms
February 16, 1951 - October 23, 2021

Born in Corpus Christi, TX on February 16, 1951 to Robert and Olive Dooms Sr. William Dooms was the third of four children (Alice, Robert Jr, and Donna (passed before William)). He passed away Peacefully at home after fighting off COVID and then fighting another illness on October 23, 2021. He lived a life dedicated to God, family and Navy.
William “Bill” as he would go by, was born into a family of Navy Tradition. After graduating from Ashland High School in 1969 he followed in his Grandfather, Father and Brother’s footsteps after a brief time at Southern Oregon State College he joined the Navy in 1972. He would travel to Hawaii, Texas and Italy. In 1978 while in Italy, he met the love of his life fellow Navy woman Jean Ditgen while on tour of England over Thanksgiving. They married on March 30, 1979. Together they went on to have 2 children, Jennifer and John. They would also have a couple of dogs (Sandy and Kuper) while together, that met him at the gates.
He served 20 years as cryptological technician petty officer first class in the Navy retiring in 1992. After his Naval career he served 10 years in the Fleet Reserves. He brought his family home to Oregon after retirement. He was a member of the American Legion (Post 14 Ashland) as his family before him, serving as Chaplain of Post 14 in Ashland in 2021.
He loved woodworking, fishing, cars, dogs, country music, watching or attending sports events. He played softball while at his different posts in the Navy (VA, MD, Scotland, FL).
William is survived by his wife, Jean of 42 years, of Central Point. Children, Jennifer Dooms of White City, and John Dooms (sig. other, Susan) of Eagle Point. 5 Grandchildren; 1 Great-Grandchild; and preceded in death by 1 Great-Grandchild.
Military Honors and service to be held on November 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm sharp at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Followed by a potluck at 4:15pm at the HGGV clubhouse (4901 Hamrick Rd. Central Point, OR).
