Stan DiCarlo – A devoted teacher, athlete, and volunteer basketball coach, real-life comedian, public speaker, ever-supportive sibling and uncle, gourmet cook and salsa dancer, United Teachers of LA union leader, continuous student of health and self-improvement, a man’s man beloved by the ladies and all who knew him, all around wonderful man with a huge heart – our dear, dear brother.
Stan was born in Staten Island in 1960, and completed primary and secondary school in Los Angeles when the family moved in 1970. He graduated Cal State LA with a BA in Accounting. Starting as a teacher in the LA School District in 1994, he taught multiple high school subjects to under-privileged students. Stan dedicated many extra hours of his own time and some money of his own to create lessons that kept it real and interesting. As a union rep, he fought for better conditions for students and teachers. Never married, but was a devoted uncle to Kim, Winfield, and Julianna, his nieces and nephew. So many people have praised his generosity, kindness, and fun-loving nature. Stan, our dear, dear brother, gone too soon at 61.
HOWEVER, our parents, Julie and John, as well as our large Polish and Sicilian family are there to greet him on the other side. We, his brothers and sister, Janet, Lou, John and Winfield, are heartened to know he’ll be there to meet us when our time comes. In the meantime, we carry Stan with us through the rest of our lives, inspired by his life and doing our best so that he can enjoy the view from where he now resides. LIFE EVERLASTING
