David Curzon
March 8, 1932 - September 1, 2022

David Edwin Curzon, age 90, passed away on September 1, 2022 in Medford, Oregon. David was born on March 8, 1932 in Pocatello, Idaho to Robert Howard and Eva Lucille (Lish) Curzon. He had a twin brother who was stillborn. He was the third of eight children. He attended school in Inkom, Idaho graduating in 1951.

In 1952, David joined the Navy, as a Yeoman. He served aboard the USS Rochester (CA-124) home-ported in Long Beach, California and the USS Dixie (AD-14) and USS Piedmont (AD-17) both home-ported in San Diego, California. He served active duty for four years, and later in the Naval Reserve for 30 years, retiring in 1990 as a Master Chief.

On February 21, 1953, he married Margaret Geraldine (Jeri) Lish at the home of Jeri’s parents between Inkom and McCammon on South Old Highway 99, near what was called Onyx. In 1959, they were sealed together in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While David was on active duty, they lived in various places in California. Afterwards, they lived in Pocatello from 1956 to 1960, in Medford in 1961, again in Pocatello from 1962 to 1964, Gold Hill in 1964 to 1965, and finally in Medford since 1965. Together they raised their three children, Mitchel, Shelley, and Todd. They were married for about 70 years.

Over the years, David did various jobs including farming, railroad worker for Union Pacific Railroad, gas station attendant, YMCA instructor, student driving instructor, football and basketball coach, and school teacher of social studies at Medford Mid High and later Medford South High School. He retired from teaching in 1990.

David was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. David and Jeri served a service mission for the Church working at a local employment center and also served in the Medford Oregon Temple of the Church located in Central Point, Oregon.

David is survived by his son, Mitchel (Myrna) Curzon of Central Point, Oregon; daughter, Shelley (Gary) Weiser of Clear Lake, California,; and son Todd (David Tsung) of Woodinville, Washington; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leland Curzon of Utah; and one sister, Sylvia (Harold) Hess of Utah.

David was preceded in death by his wife Jeri; parents; one brother Howard Everett Curzon, and three sisters, Madeline Whitaker, Erma Herzinger and Ruby Leffler.

David was buried at the Eagle Point National Cemetery on 23 September 2022.
