Obituary for Barbara Jean (Andy) Anderson Larson

Barbara was born an only child to Carl Olaf and Emma Anderson in Seattle, Washington. She passed away Sunday evening, December 17 in Medford, Oregon.
She will be returning to her hometown of Seattle for a family burial next to her beloved husband, Alfred G. Larson. Barbara is survived by her three children, Kristine Larson, Jon Larson, and Jeff Larson who reside in Washington and Oregon.
Barbara will be most remembered for her beautiful smile, which also captured the eye of her husband while attending the University of Washington. After earning degrees in sociology and early childhood development and education she moved with her husband to live in Oregon.
Along with her husband she was a supporter of progressive democratic and pro-choice ideals and civic responsibility as seen through their life-long community volunteerism and philanthropic efforts. Barbara’s interests were broad as were her many activities and travels. She was a lifelong member of the Uniteers Camping group, Phi Mu Sorority PEO, AAUW, UW Alumni, Swedish Club of Seattle, Nordic Heritage Museum, and the Nature Conservancy. Further, her Anderson family’s bequest funds an ongoing scholarship program for young women showing a strong civic service background who are pursuing a university-level education.
Contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Doctors Without Borders and/or St. Jude Children’s Hospital
