After that life-changing church service he enlisted in the naval reserve, and a short time later, after the Korean War had begun, he was called back to active duty,, working in San Francisco. It was during this assignment he met the love of his life, Vauna Davis. The couple soon realized they should be together, and married in the Manti, Utah temple.
