Obituary for Bobbie Nell LaFond

Bobbie Nell LaFond passed away October 1st at the age of 87. Bobbie will be remembered for her tenacity, perseverance and spunk in pursuit of what she believed was right. As we grieve we know she is in the comfort of the lord.
Bobbie was born on February 20, 1931 in Colleyville, Texas to Clay and Estelle Stone. Bobbie was the youngest of four children. Her family moved from Texas to Los Angeles when she was young, finally settling on a cattle ranch in Englewood, California. This community is located three miles north of Weed. She attended a two classroom school and eventually graduated from Yreka High School.
After school, Bobbie married Lester M. Hansen of Central Point and proudly became parents of three children. After moving to Santa Barbara, CA and El Paso, Texas, Bobbie moved back to the Los Angeles area to pursue a career in modeling. From this experience she returned her family to Grenada where she accepted a position with the Klamath National Forest Service. She attended college at the College of the Siskiyou’s majoring in Surveying and Engineering. Upon completion she was a Civil Engineer for the Forest Service. Much of her work is enjoyed today as she mapped many of the recreational roads and trails to include the Pacific Crest Trail.
Bobbie married Ernest LaFond on December 23, 1977. His strength and skills in construction provided many opportunities for travel. While Ernie was assigned to work on the Alyeska Pipeline, Bobbie remained by his side providing engineering and family support. Upon completion, they moved to Michigan where she accepted a position with the Hiawatha National Forest. Ernie and his brother partnered in a popular hunting and fishing lodge, where Bobbie played an instrumental role in assisting the guests.
In 1998, Ernie and Bobbie returned to Southern Oregon to be closer to family, where they welcomed the arrival of many grandchildren. Ernie passed in the spring of 2002.
While attending church in 2006, Bobbie grew fond of Dale Hinkle. They remained strong companions until Dales passing earlier this year.
Bobbie loved the outdoors, camping, gardening, refurbishing furniture, arts and crafts, cooking and yardsaling.
She is survived by her three children: Valerie Hansen, Mitch Hansen, Dana Hussey-Pablano, Son-in-law Jose Pablano, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on October 19th 11:00 am at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point. Donations may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network.
