Biography

Judith Marene Smith Seeger Hallett died on May 1, 2010, from complications due to esophageal cancer. Judy was a 12 year breast cancer survivor.
Judith Marene Smith was born Alugust 28, 1943, in Salmon, Idaho, to Jess E. "Ned" and Clarice B. Smith. Judy, as she was known, was the youngest of three but grew up with a large extended family in Salmon.

When Judy was nine years old she moved with her family to Boise, Idaho. Judy graduated from Boise High School in 1961. While a senior at Boise High School, Judy met a young airman, Oklahoma native John Seeger, who was stationed at Mountain Home AFB.

Judy and John married in December of 1961, and in early 1962 moved to California, where they lived in Huntington Beach until 1982. During that time John and Judy had two children, Jolene and James. Judy was active in her church and was an avid tennis player. John and Judy divorced in 1982.

Judy returned to her beloved Idaho with her son, James, to temporarily settle in McCall to enjoy the out-of-doors, skiing and fishing. Judy met Holden Hallett while attending the McCall Winter Festival, Judy and Holden moved to Medford, Ore., and married there on August 20, 1983.

Not yet done with moving about, Judy and Holden moved to Salmon, Idaho, where they lived on a 10-acre ranchette on the Lemhi, where Judy enjoyed riding horses, hunting, fishing and being out in the wilderness. They also owned and operated The River's Fork Inn in North Fork for five years. Still not done moving, Judy and Holden then settled in Cody, Wyo., in 1994. This is where Judy first became employed as an escrow officer, working for Park County Title.

Their final move was back to Medford, Ore. They owned a home in White City where they created a wonderful life together. Judy worked for Jackson County Title until her retirement in Octobr 2008, and while employed there, she was president of the Oregon Escrow Council for two terms and also was Escrow Officer of the Year twice.

Judy loved to garden and spent hours around her yard growing and pampering her pansies, petunias and petals of all sorts. Judy was an avid fisherman who could out fish anyone. She would always catch the biggest fish, making every man on the river or lake jealous and scratch their head. But every time she had the biggest one. Judy could have lived out her life on a lake or river with her fishing pole in hand and her husband by her side.

Judy was the most loving, patient, understanding wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was our rock and inspiration. We will miss her!

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and older brother, Jere E. Smith. She is survived by husband, Holden, of White City; sister, Diane Smith Tipton, of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Jolene R Seeger Stone (Dave), of Bellevue, Idaho; son, James P. Seeger (Heidi), of Homer, Alaska; step-son, David Hallett (Kim), of Roseburg, Ore.; step-daughters, Lisa Hallett Van Brunt, of White City and Hannah Hallett of Bristol, NH; father-in-law, Walter Hallett, of White City; Naomi Hallett, of Shady Cove, 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren
