Obituary for Troy Odell Stubbs

Troy Odell Stubbs, 69, of Central Point, Oregon passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 from complications of frontal lobe dementia. Troy was born July 23, 1948 in Weslaco, Texas to Bryan William Stubbs and Laura Jean (Gwin) Soltis.
Troy’s father passed away when he was four years old, and the family moved to Sams Valley. He attended school in God Hill. In 1966 he graduated from Crater High School. While he was in high school he joined the Naval Reserves. After graduation in July, he was called to active duty. He spent two tours of duty in Vietnam aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Oriskany. After he completed active duty, he returned to Southern Oregon. In 1968, he married Joyce Earlene Pidcock.
Troy worked in the cadet program at the Medford Police Department, and in October, 1969, he was hired as an officer with the Central Point Police Department. In February, 1999 he retired from Central Point. During this time, he was a defensive driving trainer. He attended Southern Oregon College while working full time.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as other outdoor activities. He was an active participant in his kids’ and grandkids’ sports events.
Troy id survived by his wife; son, Bryan Lee Stubbs; daughter, Brandi Lynn Kucera-Stubbs; granddaughters, Jordan Smith (Josh), Jesse Leonardo (Nate), Jade Bailey (Gage), and Tralene Kucera; great-grandsons, Eli, Waylon, and Roy Leonardo; and two cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and brother, Philip William Stubbs, who passed away before Troy was born.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Conger-Morris Central Point, 800 S. Front St, Central Point, Ore. A reception will follow at the Stubbs family home. A private burial will take place on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
