Obituary for Louise Gertrude Speegle

Louise Gertrude Speegle passed away February 20, 2018 in Medford at age 93.
Louise was born July 20, 1924 in Willows, California to Ben Schuld and Gertrude (Nielson) Schuld. In spite of her parents’ divorcing when she was young, and growing up during the Great Depression, she thrived as a child and was well cared for by her loving mother and relatives. After high school graduation she held bookkeeping jobs and modeled dresses at an expensive clothing store in Redding, Calif. She also worked at Harry & David in Medford for 17 years as a Customer Service Supervisor.
Louise married Claude Speegle in 1946 and enjoyed a long and happy marriage until his passing in 2003. They raised two loving sons, Bart Speegle and Mel Speegle. Bart’s wife Cindy made sure Louise’s milestone birthdays were celebrated in a fun and memorable way with family and friends. Louise’s 90th birthday celebration included Sid and Jackie (Speegle) Griffin from Boise, Idaho, who shared stories about Louise and Claude going back more than 60 years.
Louise is survived by her two sons, Bart Speegle and daughter-in-law, Cindy Speegle of Portland, Ore; Mel Speegle and daughter-in-law, Helen Speegle; and grandson, Shelby Speegle of Boise, Idaho. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Gertrude; brother, Ben Jr.; and sister, Jeanette.
Arrangements were provided by Conger-Morris in Medford. Louise will be buried next to Claude in the Pine Creek Cemetery in Chico, Calif. In a private ceremony.
