Obituary for Jean Eleanor (Zandstra) Slagter

Jean Eleanor (Zandstra) Slagter, was peacefully called home to Heaven on May 19, 2018. She was born August 22, 1922 in Michigan.
Jean grew up in Michigan where she met the love of her life, John L. Slagter. They were married in 1943, during World War II. Following the war, they started their life together in Grand Rapids, Michigan, then moved to Texas and finally to Southern California where they raised their family.
Jean's career included Nursing Administration and bookkeeping for Lexicon Music Inc. Jean and John retired to Oregon in 1989. Following John's passing, Jean went to live with her daughter and family in Santa Rosa, California. Jean's devotion to her Christian faith included numerous Church families, Evangelistic organizations, and various charities. Her dedication to her family was just as strong, even making sure she did not leave this world until she was positive her family was well taken care of.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John and daughter, Karen. She leaves behind her sons, Craig (Lanore), Rick, Tim (Phyllis); and daughter, Sharon (Matthew). Jean is also survived by eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her burial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, May 25 at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Santa Rose, Calif. later this summer.
